The shipyard exists since 1794 and was one of the more than twenty shipyards in the near area that time. Nowadays it’s the last of here kind. A special thing to know is that the shipyard is since 1857 in possession of the same family ‘De Wit’ and they still do the maintenance of a lot of the historical flat boats of the market gardeners, still in use, but nowadays mostly by inhabitants who like to keep alive a taste of history. Sometimes a new ship is build and welcomed to the fleet of old vessel types, what give rise to celebrate a party.
